Netbooks Will Never Be The Same

I just love the thought of a netbook with dvd. I think if you ask most people, having a dvd player is the one aspect of netbook computers that is lacking. Most mainstream computer users, or in fact, most people in general feel uncomfortable without a dvd player. Unless you are ripping movies (that's illegal isn't it?) or transferring a lot of things to flash memory you are a bit frustrated at times.

In my opinion, the EeePC 1004 will revolutionize the netbook market. As consumers, our expectations will change quickly. I think most of us may consider switching to a Eee PC 1004dn when they arrive on store shelves. I think a netbook dvd is simply evolution of netbooks.

The question is, what are the other big netbook manufacturers doing about netbooks with dvd? I haven't heard anything. Perhaps they are waiting to see what the Eee PC 1004 can do or if Asus has gone too far with their technology. Skeptics perhaps? That will only put the other manufacturers further behind once the EeePC 1004 hits store shelves. They are kidding themselves if they think people will choose non dvd player vs a netbook with dvd player.

The real challenge for Asus is to deal with battery life. A netbook with dvd player you would think, would suck up a lot of battery juice. In most cases yes, but wasn't that yesteryear? The technology always gets better, more economical and don't batteries last longer now? Yes and yes and yes. A netbook dvd will be a mainstay. It's like asking would you like fries with that? What are pro's versus the con's of getting a netbook dvd player? So imagine shopping for a new netbook. Looking at all the various netbooks, you will say to yourself, geez, why would I buy a netbook without a dvd player when this model, the EeePC 1004dn has a dvd player?

The mainstream consumer will gobble this netbook with dvd player up in masses. It's my prediction! Nobody can prove me wrong just yet!
